South Carolina Insurance Director
Scott H. Richardson has been the Director of the South Carolina Department of Insurance since February of 2007. Prior to his appointment by Governor Mark Sanford, Mr. Richardson served in the House of Representatives and the South Carolina Senate. He served as the Chairman of the House Property and Casualty Subcommittee. In addition, Mr. Richardson served on the House Labor, Commerce and Industry Committee and the Senate Finance and Banking and Insurance Committees. Mr. Richardson has a leadership role in the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and serves as the Southeaster Zone's chairman. He holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Tennessee. He and his wife Margaret have two children.
